Whether you love or hate Microsoft, today you have to tip your hat to Bill Gates. As the poster-boy for geekiness retires this afternoon from the company he founded 33 years ago, it seems only fitting to pay homage to the man who is responsible for MS-DOS, Windows, Office, Internet Explorer and the X-Box. Along the way, the godfather of modern computers has amassed an estimated net worth of $50 billion dollars and held the title of The Richest Man in the World for 13 consecutive years. Extra kudos goes to Bill for not taking his billions and buying a small country to retire to. Instead, he and Melinda will use the money to “reduce inequalities in the US and around the world.” Not bad for a fifty-something nerd.
