I know some folks that did Rolling Thunder’s Ride To The Wall yesterday. For those of you that don’t know, bikers from all over the country ride to Washington DC’s Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Wall to pay respects to our veterans and to demand an accounting of our POW’s and MIA’s that still wait. This is their 22nd Anniversary, and it is definitely on my “Bucket List.” Per Rolling Thunder’s website: “This is a demonstration, not a parade.”
Please don’t think that things have changed considerably since Vietnam. Since we have never learned from our mistakes, we are, of course, doomed to repeat them. Lt. Cdr. Michael Scott Speicher has been listed as Missing/Captured since January 2002. Shot down over Iraq in 1991, Speicher’s status has changed several times, and there have been reports of his initials being carved at a detention center as late as 2004. But, like so many so many others before him, he still waits.
