Hurricane Suppression Vessels

Since it is 103 again today, weather has been a “hot” topic of conversation around here lately (sorry, couldn’t help it! ;) ). We even took the truck to Bike Night last night because it was still too damned hot outside to ride the Harley! Anyway, apparently our Fifty-something Nerd, has been unhappy about the weather, too. Bill Gates and a couple of his friends have recently filed patents for hurricane suppression-vessels that would be used to eliminate hurricanes. Key to a hurricane’s survival is the temperature of the ocean – it has to be warm enough, or the hurricane fizzles out. Bill and his buddies propose to use their new vessels to bring cooler water up from the lower depths of the ocean to cool the temperature on the surface – thus making the conditions unfavorable for a hurricane to form. Bill isn’t the first guy to explore this idea, but he is the first guy to explore it who has the cash to implement it. Not sure about the ecological implications here, but if we look at Bill’s track record of successful ventures, I’m thinking he can make this work. Now if he can just cool it down enough for us to take a ride ;)
