Cooper’s Old Time BBQ

Cooper’s Old Time BBQ is a (relatively) new BBQ place across the street from Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth. Through the grapevine I heard that it was just like Hard Eight in Stephenville, and I was anxious to try it, so we headed that way on Saturday.  We were there for a late lunch, so it wasn’t busy, but I was told they had been quite busy earlier in the day, evident by the fact they were out of several meat items. We opted for the half chicken, pork tenderloin and boneless pork chops. The sauce they dipped the meat in had a citrusy taste to it – not nearly as good as Hard Eight’s. The beans, like Hard Eight’s, were free and quite good. The pork tenderloin was very good – tender and juicy and everyone’s favorite. The chicken was also quite good, but the boneless “Big Chop” left much to be desired. It was dry and not flavorful at all. Cooper’s BBQ sauce also has a citrusy flavor and was not impressive. All in all, a definite second to Hard Eight. The place is huge, and I can imagine it would be very busy if there was a good name at Billy Bob’s, but I’m not sure we would go there again other than for sheer convenience. So the HBH Hawg rating:

Till next time….
